Life in Naples is more laid back than in northern Italian cities and so things really don't get started until late. Don't even think of going out before nine. Most Neapolitans will be only heading to dinner at that time. Most of the best clubs are around the bay area so head in either direction along the waterfront. For those interested, the gay area is to be found around Piazza Bellini. To get into the clubs you may need to get a membership card, a slightly costly formality to get around licensing laws. Chez Moi, Parco Margherita 12. If you are looking for an after hours place with an intimate feel and enough of a dance floor to satisfy the odd desire this is the place for you. Intra Moenia, Piazza Bellini 70. This is a bar that will serve you also during the day if you want to sit and wile away a few hours. It also stays open until late and is a meet up place for aperitifs and after dinner drinks. Jasay Nightlife, Via Marina. Closed on Monday. This a new club that is part of the project to upgrade the port area and stays open until four. La Mela, Via dei Mille 41. This is a legendary club teeming with an exclusive clientele. You will need to dress up to get in though. Madison Street, Via Sgambati 30c. An enormous disco quite upmarket that has different themed nights and Saturday is gay night. My Way, Via Cappella Vecchia 30c. Open durino the winter months from Thursday to Saturday. An interesting happening club with a dance floor where you can boogy to the range of music that goes from salsa to house. Otto Jazz Club, Piazzetta Cariati 23. This is a very popular club which sometimes performances of Neapolitan folk song, not quite Giuseppe di Stefano but it does compensate with a very vast menu of cocktails and it stays open until late. |
